Legacy Giving

In 2025, Peter William Reed passed away and in his Last Will and Testament, he made a bequeath of $10,000 to the Memorial Society of BC. We would like to express our profound gratitude for Mr. Reed’s generosity and his support of the the work of the Memorial Society.

For many British Columbians, joining the Memorial Society of BC is about:

  • Making thoughtful, informed decisions in advance.
  • Ensuring their family won’t face unnecessary financial pressure.
  • Advocating for greener, more sustainable options for final arrangements.

Some members choose to take that commitment one step further. By including MSBC in their Will, they help ensure future generations continue to benefit from independent information, consumer advocacy, and affordable options.

Legacy gifts help MSBC:

  • Advocate for greater affordability in pricing
  • Support families at one of life’s most vulnerable moments
  • Provide education that reduces stress and confusion
  • Promote environmentally responsible alternatives

Because MSBC is not a registered charity, these gifts are not about tax receipts. They are about values, about standing up for consumer rights, about ensuring choice, and ensuring dignity and affordability remain available to all.

If MSBC has given you peace of mind — or helped support your family — you may wish to consider leaving a gift in your Will.

If you wish to include a gift in your Will, you may use the following wording:

“I give to the Memorial Society of British Columbia, 949 West 49th Avenue, Vancouver, British Columbia, V5Z 2T1, the sum of $____ (or ____% of my estate, or the residue of my estate) to be used for its general purposes.”

We recommend you consult your legal advisor to ensure your Will reflects your wishes.

If you have questions about including MSBC in your estate plans or would like to discuss the impact of your gift, contact us at 604-733-7705 or 1-888-816-5902 (Toll-Free), or email info@memsoc.org. We would be honoured to speak with you.
